About the Artist
Wanderlust Brushstrokes
Having the privilege of traveling during my childhood instilled in me the importance of new experiences and gaining new perspectives. Many lessons come with traveling that I have used throughout my life. I have learned to be prepared for anything but do not overthink it. Be sure to take lots of photos but live in the moment. And remember that all good things must come to an end so pay attention to the journey rather than the destination. One of my favorite parts about exploring new places is the opportunity to meet new people and see the many beautiful ways that they live their lives.
My passion as an artist is producing art that deepens my understanding of the joys of being human. The three interconnected themes of time, memory, and self expression frequently show up in my work in one way or another.
When reflecting back on an experience, whether it was a grand adventure in a new country or a quiet day at the park, time and memory arise to convey the impact it had on me. I'm fascinated by the depth of complexity that both time and memory can attain. I enjoy capturing those specific moments on canvas and being able to express just how grand they can be.
I find it fascinating that each and every one of us has these unique "specifics" that ultimately define who we are. No matter how far you travel, whomever it is that you meet, every person has unique beliefs, memories, and tales that can be dissected into countless tiny parts. These are what I like to refer to as our "specifics." Of course, some people have more experiences than others, but the wonderful thing about it all is that we continue to accumulate memories, lessons, and pieces of our own stories with each passing day.
With my art, I want to evoke questions of what it means to be human and how extraordinary of a privilege it is to experience it all. Art has given me the opportunity to express my "specifics," and I am forever grateful that I am able to share my story this way.
